Cleveland Indians' Brian Miles on Being Present in the Process
Even people who may seem effortlessly successful on the outside go through the same kinds of internal struggles as everyone else. Recognizing your power to control parts of your day and to choose consistency in working toward your goals is key to unlocking your full potential. This week, Cleveland Indians Mental Performance Coach Brian Miles talks about being present, quieting the ego, and committing to the challenges you set for yourself.
When Miles is running laps in the morning, it’s always tempting to stop at six instead of doing the full nine around the field, he says. He’s honest when he talks about these small bumps in the road throughout the day because it’s important for people to know they aren’t alone in working past that inner voice that sometimes wants to give up. Taking back your power to achieve means making the choice to win the battle and recognizing that you have a say in your own success. It may feel risky or scary at first, but it ultimately opens up more opportunities in the long run.
